I kind of miss my old livejournal and social media is pretty much dead to me. I like the thought of being able to just ramble on a blog again like back in those old lj days. So we'll see maybe I'll keep this up. Maybe my friends will be interested in what up to on the regular or what I'm thinking about. Maybe I'll give up on this in like a week. I guess I gotta see how i like this. so at the very least this is a trial run blog.
What's going on in my life right now...well tomorrow I'll be running a drop in writing session for the library. Should be fun. It gives me an excuse to write more, and having run a session last year in November I've already met a couple other local writers.
Currently I am rereading (audiobook) Brigands and Breadknives. The latest of Travis Baldree's cozy fantasy novels. I love these books so much. This is perhaps the least cozy of the three with the ratkin bookseller Fern going on an adventure (mid life crisis) with a famed adventurer Astryx One Ear. It introduced my darling chaos goblin daughter Zyll and is just a very fun romp in a lovely little fantasy world.
I should be reading (physical book) SHWD also known as Special Hazardous Waste Disposal, a yuri manga that came highly recommended by someone who's fanfic makes me greatly respect them. This person I follow on tumblr @Jace Beleren wrote a fantastic mtg fic with Rowan and Royse from the Wilds of Eldraine set which involves ovipositor sounding and I'll just leave it at that.
Right now I'm playing Hollow Knight on the switch and I am enamored of the cute graphics, most especially the main character. Ghost, I think is the closest he has to a name, is just an adorable shade embodying a horned helmet and cloak. You wander a desolate insect world and wield a nail as your sword. It is by far one of the best MetroidVanias I've played to date. I'm very intrigued by the story as it seems to involve some eldritch bug gods and maybe the end of the world? Good stuff.
Real, I miss some of Livejournal's particular quirks every so often. I loved reading postsecret there... :-)
ReplyDeleteHello fellow LJ refugee! Yeah it could be a toxic cesspit of fandom sometimes but most social media continues that trend. It was still fun having that little online diary of mine where i would publish my thoughts, short stories, and poetry. Hopefully I get something similar out of this.
