Working on a Stamp Farm
I had a pretty great week. Monday I took my friend Next out for their Birthday. We had all you can eat sushi at Sushi-Mame here in town. Then I took them to Barnes and Nobles where we found the perfect journal for one of their rpg characters, I found a pretty blue journal I liked for myself as well. At Target we got them a great set of gel pens for journaling. We hit the game shops to get them their first MTG play mat. Finally we went through my massive sticker collection to get them a nice set of stickers for journaling.
On Thursday I host a drop in writing session for the library. I only had one person show up for it, but she was very grateful for it. I powered through 8 pages of journal writing myself which i thought was a pretty impressive feat. Thursday night was also our weekly Magic night and I actually one the first game with my new Aunty Ool deck. Aunty Ool is not one to fuck around lol.
Saturday was the library craft swap which my roommate hosts. Since she hosts it I got out of a lot of work Saturday to help her with it. It's really popular too, we had 121 people show up and I found myself some nice craft items like Aida cloth, stickers, and stamping supplies. Saturday night, despite threat of a winter storm I went to hang out with my friends Jennifer and Ryan who made us a wonderful dinner of chili and blue corn cornbread. After dinner we played Happy Home. It's an adorable board game where you go around shopping for furniture to make yourself the happiest home of anyone on the block. Simple but with some interesting strategy involved.
Sunday we did get a nice bit of snow, but being New Mexico it was largely gone by the time I went to meet Jess at Daiso so I could buy more stickers and stamps lol. We also hit Cost Plus so I could by Skum Bannaner largely because I like the name. But hey it turned out to be a nice candy too. Circus peanut texture but with a nice banana flavor and it also comes in chocolate covered. Then we hit Hot Pot as we like to do and wandered Barnes and Noble after, did not buy anything this time.
Circumstances saw D&D cancelled but I hung out with some of the other players anyway and we spent the day playing, snacking, and napping. We started with Stamp Farm. It is a cute board games though the simplistic strategy definitely made it geared more towards kids. You have a sheet with a farm grid and you roll dice to stamp farm animals onto your farm. We played twice and both times scores were incredibly close and I think it's just cause of the lack of real strategy involved. Very cute, but I'm glad I didn't pay much for it.
After we played a Magnus Protocol board game my friends had just gotten in. It's basically a mystery in a box but if you know the Magnus brand it was all with a paranormal twist. Really impressed with the quality of the game "evidence" and there was a lot to pore over and do so three of us had no trouble all managing to contribute to solving the case. Or as solved as a Magnus case ever is.
Then we decided to switch to a video game, I suggest Silent Hill F and the other agreed but it would take a while to download so I just napped in front of the fireplace while we waited lol. We had a pretty good time with it, me screaming and and being scared the most I think when it was my turn to play.
And that was pretty much most of last week. This week has been a bit more boring, slept through most of monday, work has been work, but tomorrow will be D&D instead of our usual Magic night. Looking forward to seeing what shenanigans Fluffy and her crew get up to now.
